New training programme launched by Space Industry Skillnet for 2008 - 2009

Space Industry Skillnet has received approval for funding of its unique enterprise led network training programme for Irish companies in the space industry for the period 2008/2009.

The Space Industry Skillnet

The Space Industry Skillnet is an enterprise led training network that organises essential training for Irish companies who are or who want to be involved in the delivery of technology and services to the European Space Agency (ESA) in support of its space programmes (www.esa.int). The Space Industry Skillnet is a national training network and operates in all technology sectors. The objective of the Space Industry Skillnet is to encourage and enable more Irish companies to consider the space industry as a truly commercial opportunity and to provide them with the skills to do so.

The Space Industry Skillnet is launching a new training schedule for 2008 including a number of unique courses aimed at companies in the space industry, provided by leading experts in the field from NASA and ESA.


  • Writing ESA Proposals (Provided by: ESA - Location: Dublin) - Spring 2008
  • Introduction to Space Systems Safety ( Provided by IAASS - Location: Athlone) 6th to 9th May 2008
  • GPS Training Courses (Provided by: GPS Ireland - Location: Athlone & Cork) March to December 2008
  • Towards the Lean Enterprise (Provided by: WBS - Location: Athlone) March to June 2008
  • ESA Soldering & Electronic Assembly - Operator & Instructor Level (Provided by: ESA Solder School - Location: Ireland) Spring 2008
  • IPC Soldering Certification - Operator & Instructor Level (Provided by: ATEK - Location: Killaloe) Various Dates 2008
  • Business Skills Training (Provided by: Kevin J Reid - Location: Athlone) Various dates 2008
